The story follows the wanderings of a hero through the situations of survival. People wait for the Ark to arrive and rescue them while their habitat falls apart. Delving deep into the dusty and long abandonded vaults of b-cinema in search of lost gems always leaves me with a bittersweet taste. On one hand the discovery of unexpected gems where no one would think them possible is a rewarding experience. On the other hand though it makes one wonder how many of these remarkable low-budget oddities, personal love affairs of directors never quite famous and now all but forgotten, have almost forever slipped from memory? n any case what we have here is a little post-apocalyptic gem from Poland that is really better than it has any right to. The dystopian near future of O-BI, O-BA finds a group of survivors of the nuclear war that ravaged the Earth inhabiting an underworld concrete bunker and biding their time as they wait for the mysterious Ark, an air ship of some kind that will come and save them. The Ark proves to be an elaborate hoax, carefully designed to give hope to the malnourished and desperate denizens of the bunker, while in the meantime the dome that separates their miserable existence from the nuclear winter outside is slowly caving in. What first striked me about the movie is the design of the bunker and the depiction of the survivors. The survivors are gaunt, filthy and terrible-looking penitents, dressed in rags and aimlessly wandering the neon-lit halls of the bunker like automatons. The bunker is a rundown, seedy place, with bright neon lights peering from all sides like the eyes of malignant beasts. On one hand it is a slightly 80's depiction of the dystopian future but the movie never stoops down to MAD MAX cheese. Instead it combines biting political satire with the bleak outlook of a world with no future, black comedy with barbs on apathy, religion and power. The survivors, for example, are fed some kind of flour dropping from a tube that hovers in the air - later on we discover the food supervisor uses books and the Bible itself as filler for this meagre meal. There are many such short symbolic touches, perhaps not life-changing or faith-restoring, yet playful, clever and inspired. One thing is for sure; O-BI, O-BA is not your run-of-the-mill sci-fi schlock. It overcomes its modest budget with creativity and has genuine artistic aspirations both from a writing and directing perspective. My opinion is that it should have been filmed in black and white instead of colour though. The director uses atmospheric light and shadow to great effect and it would have registered even better in stark black and white. The blue-green neon on the other hand outstays its welcome after a while. Just a minor gripe in an otherwise solid b-movie with its heart set in all the right places. Imagine a less bleak THE ROAD (Cormac McCarthy) being injected with the satire and humour of DR.STRANGELOVE and you're getting there. See it if you can find it.
祭紅
龔雪,浦克,林強,關長珠,張延,傅守信,宋景昌,陳汝斌,崔超明,徐丹,莽一萍,孫笑非,張鐘熙,呂學謙,陳翔,顧謙,任偉民,王桂生,龐萬靈一九二九年，馮家寶帶著國民黨的使命由上海來到瓷城，一 面偵察共產黨的活動，一面搜刮陶瓷珍品。陶瓷工人程瑞生專會 燒制中外馳名的祭紅，他將自己唯一的女兒瑩童許給徒弟紅宇為 妻。三人一起過著貧困的生活。馮家寶想用祭紅向國外換取軍火，來鎮壓革命力量。但是， 程瑞生拒絕為他燒制祭紅。后來徐紅宇參加了游擊隊和隊長周丹 一起在瓷城組織工人罷工，抗捐抗稅。馮家寶鎮壓工人運動，殺 害了徐紅宇。已懷孕的徐妻在找游擊隊的途中被捕。程瑞生也因 敵人搶走了宣德祭紅大瓶，含恨出走。徐妻在獄中生一女，不久 又被押往上海。周丹率游擊隊打進瓷城，在獄中救出并收養了徐 女，也取名瑩童。解放后，周丹已是陶瓷研究所的黨委書記，女孩當了新一代 的陶瓷工人。一天周丹帶瑩童為徐紅宇掃墓時，巧遇程瑞生，程 收瑩童為徒。正當程瑞生燒出真正的祭紅美人肩大瓶，實現了幾 十年的宿愿時，他的女兒突然到來。原來徐妻被押往上海途中， 乘機打死馮家寶并參加了游擊隊，解放后被派往國外工作。此時 她看到周瑩童身上佩帶的祭紅小龍，認出她是自己的女兒，于是 祖孫三代團聚。
變異雙頭蛇
陳堃,莫佳荻,韓陽,武雨晴,王黎林宇與三名女孩遭遇空難，不幸流落至一座荒無人煙的孤島，剛上岸便遭遇一頭兇猛的變異雙頭蛇襲擊。危急時刻，容貌靚麗、身手矯健的當地女土著頌雅及時出現，憑借對島嶼環境的熟悉，成功引開雙頭蛇，將四人救至一處隱蔽山洞。在艱難的孤島求生中，林宇作為唯一的男性主動守護眾人，朝夕相處間，他與四名女孩漸生情愫，陷入了兩難的感情糾葛。好景不長，思瑤慘遭雙頭蛇伏擊吞噬，若琳也不幸遇害。悲痛之下，林宇、婉晴與頌雅聯手，借助頌雅祖輩流傳的經驗，摸清毒蛇怕強光和特定植物汁液的弱點，巧用簡易工具設下陷阱，最終成功消滅雙頭蛇，林宇也找到情感的歸宿。
