瘋狂的小鎮
趙登峰,劉廷堯,李廷棟,崔慕燕,董子武,木圭,曹杰臣,欒福仁,劉釗,任偉民,劉彤彥,尹京晶,徐紅巖,王鳳奎,董永愛,侯杰,任兵,楊桂仙,王玉琴,劉志義,連璉,賀汝瑜,武筱婷,李鐵峰,豈燕云,魯非,趙軍在一個古樸的小鎮，夜晚驚雷暴雨，翌日烈日酷炎，這百年未見的奇異天氣使人們產生了是否要發生地震的疑慮。中學王老師為解決女兒暑假回家的住處正趕搭小棚，被鎮上的甘廣播看到，她又從王老師口中聽到"凌晨"二字，于是，"明日凌晨地震"的消息立即傳遍全鎮。居民們紛紛涌向供銷社搶購抗震材料。甘廣播把明晨地震的消息告訴了鎮長劉政府，奇異的天氣使鎮長警覺，他仿佛已經看到了將要發生的一切，決定來臨防震抗震的第一線--供銷社。供銷社內，本鎮的要員們--余供銷、陳郵電、李銀行、張供電正起勁地玩著麻將，劉政府突然出現使他們十分尷魀。陳郵電回所布置工作；李銀行返社對部下緊急動員；張供電跑回家清查妻子開的小店中煤油、蠟燭的庫存情況，命兒子速去鄰村搶購；劉政府趕赴百里之外的縣里"匯報"情況；善良的徐糧站聞訊后，為解決群眾饑苦，連夜組織人力趕烙了幾萬張大餅。一對青年正在舉行婚禮，主婚人鎮派出所所長傅政法喝得酩酊大醉，昏睡在新房中。地震的消息傳來，婚宴上的喜氣一掃而光。失態的人們砸開關閉的店門瘋狂地搶奪著一切食品，張供電幫妻子賣煤油、蠟燭心喜面悅。鐘志敲響7下，人們潮水般涌向郊外防震棚，小鎮一片混亂，忠厚的鎮治保主任雷大漢親自留鎮清查。鐘聲敲響了10下，傅政法漸漸蘇醒，當他得知地震消息，立即召開緊急會議，自命為抗震領導小組組長。鐘聲敲響了12下，嚇破了膽的苦廣播忘記頌第一號緊急通知而錯發了警報，引起一場極度混亂，踩傷者不計其數……而本鎮的要員們卻全副武裝地堅守崗位，等待著地震的到來。時光沈緩地流逝，黎明在安詳寧靜中悄然到來……小鎮這場人為的"地震"耗費巨額10萬元，不亞于經歷了一次真正的地震。
等待方舟

The story follows the wanderings of a hero through the situations of survival. People wait for the Ark to arrive and rescue them while their habitat falls apart. Delving deep into the dusty and long abandonded vaults of b-cinema in search of lost gems always leaves me with a bittersweet taste. On one hand the discovery of unexpected gems where no one would think them possible is a rewarding experience. On the other hand though it makes one wonder how many of these remarkable low-budget oddities, personal love affairs of directors never quite famous and now all but forgotten, have almost forever slipped from memory? n any case what we have here is a little post-apocalyptic gem from Poland that is really better than it has any right to. The dystopian near future of O-BI, O-BA finds a group of survivors of the nuclear war that ravaged the Earth inhabiting an underworld concrete bunker and biding their time as they wait for the mysterious Ark, an air ship of some kind that will come and save them. The Ark proves to be an elaborate hoax, carefully designed to give hope to the malnourished and desperate denizens of the bunker, while in the meantime the dome that separates their miserable existence from the nuclear winter outside is slowly caving in. What first striked me about the movie is the design of the bunker and the depiction of the survivors. The survivors are gaunt, filthy and terrible-looking penitents, dressed in rags and aimlessly wandering the neon-lit halls of the bunker like automatons. The bunker is a rundown, seedy place, with bright neon lights peering from all sides like the eyes of malignant beasts. On one hand it is a slightly 80's depiction of the dystopian future but the movie never stoops down to MAD MAX cheese. Instead it combines biting political satire with the bleak outlook of a world with no future, black comedy with barbs on apathy, religion and power. The survivors, for example, are fed some kind of flour dropping from a tube that hovers in the air - later on we discover the food supervisor uses books and the Bible itself as filler for this meagre meal. There are many such short symbolic touches, perhaps not life-changing or faith-restoring, yet playful, clever and inspired. One thing is for sure; O-BI, O-BA is not your run-of-the-mill sci-fi schlock. It overcomes its modest budget with creativity and has genuine artistic aspirations both from a writing and directing perspective. My opinion is that it should have been filmed in black and white instead of colour though. The director uses atmospheric light and shadow to great effect and it would have registered even better in stark black and white. The blue-green neon on the other hand outstays its welcome after a while. Just a minor gripe in an otherwise solid b-movie with its heart set in all the right places. Imagine a less bleak THE ROAD (Cormac McCarthy) being injected with the satire and humour of DR.STRANGELOVE and you're getting there. See it if you can find it.
